(a) A small European carnivore of the Weasel family
(
Putorius f[oe]tidus). Its scent glands secrete a
substance of an exceedingly disagreeable odor. Called
also
fitchet,
foulmart, and
European ferret.
(b) The zorilla. The name is also applied to other allied
species.
