Any cirriped crustacean adhering to rocks, floating timber,
ships, etc., esp.
(a) the sessile species (genus
Balanus and allies), and
(b) the stalked or goose barnacles (genus
Lepas and

Barnacle scale (Zo["o]l.), a bark louse (
