A bird of the genus Emberiza, or of an allied genus,
related to the finches and sparrows (family
{Fringillid[ae]}).

black-throated (Spiza Americana); the towhee bunting
or chewink (Pipilo); the snow bunting ({Plectrophanax
nivalis}); the rice bunting or bobolink, and others.
